ANOTHER SIDE OF AMERCIAN SPY STORY
Raymond Davis case is indeed a very important topic now days for all parts of Pakistani society. There are various factors which contributed in raising its hype to the present position. The most important is mishandling of the case by the American consulate in Pakistan. Americans have created numerous problems for their friends in Pakistani government .Now even if their friends promise to help them; practically they will not be able to entertain them. Two most important hurdles they will be facing are Pakistani courts and General masses reaction. PPP Government is unable to sustain the pressure .Furthermore President Zardari actually wants to share this burden with all parties of Pakistan, so that tomorrow Americans should not blame PPP for any unpleasant situation. At the same time he will be able to expose all anti –American parties in front of his friends. Another point to keep in mind is that if tomorrow Pakistani Government wants to release the American spy, they will be able to politicize the issue .Hussain Haqqanis today’s statement regarding Davis should be kept in mind while analyzing the whole situation .It seems that Mr Haaqani is American diplomat in Pakistan.
As per some sources, Pakistani security establishment is the main hurdle in the release of Davis. Pakistani establishment seems to be in the mood to say their American friends that “Let’s be clear that whether we are friends or enemies”. Americans were not expecting this much tough response from Pakistani establishment, as this type of thing never happened in the past .During last one week a no of USA delegations visited Pakistan .All of them met top Pakistani leadership including COAS General Kiyani, however they were unable to get the required results. Secretary of state Hilary Clinton also contacted Pakistani leader ship and tried to bargain, but all in vain till now.
Realistically all the factors including ground facts show that Raymond Davis is a spy who was on some important mission in Pakistan. Still now Americans have not disclosed his real identity. Furthermore his visits to Madrassas have strengthen this doubt that the person with the fake identity of Davis is important for Americans and actually some very important realities are with him , these can expose the real American agenda regarding Pakistan . Keeping in view all the facts another side of the picture is that if Davis is spy and he was present in Lahore since a month or so, doing all the activities, then his involvement in blasts during Imam Hussain chelum should also is investigated by the concerned agencies.
However this whole episode proves one fact that perceptions and security concerns of Pakistani security establishment regarding Americans are accurate up to a certain extent. Another important question arises that why Mr Rehaman Malik neglected the proposal of Pakistani top spy agency ISI. This proposal actually stated that all the foreigners especially Americans should be given visa after getting clearance from the agency. But Mr Malik paid no attention to this concern and Americans were granted immigration just like ration cards. Taking advantage of the same thing Davis was successful to enter Pakistan even after he was announced Persona non Greta twice. All these questions are still required to be answered.
